Souq Waqif  යනු කටාර් ප්‍රාන්තයේ දෝහා හි වෙළඳපොළකි. එය සාම්ප්‍රදායික ඇඳුම්, කුළුබඩු, හස්ත කර්මාන්ත සහ සිහිවටන අලෙවි කරයි. එය ආපනශාලා සහ බොහෝ සාම්ප්‍රදායික කෑම වර්ග ද වේ. මුල් ගොඩනැගිල්ල සාම්ප්‍රදායික කටාර් වාස්තු විද්‍යාත්මක ශෛලියකින් අවම වශයෙන් 20 වන සියවසේ සිට දිව යයි.

සූක් ආරම්භ කරන ලද්දේ අවම වශයෙන් ශතවර්ෂයකට පෙර Wadi Musheireb ලෙස හැඳින්වෙන වියළි ගංගා පතුලට ආසන්නයේ ය. එය Bedouins සහ ප්‍රදේශවාසීන් විවිධ භාණ්ඩ වෙළඳාම් කරන එක්රැස්වන ස්ථානයක් විය, කෙසේ වෙතත් 1990 ගණන්වල සෞභාග්‍යයේ උත්පාතයත් සමඟ Souq පරිහානියට පත් වූ අතර 2003 දී ගින්නකින් බොහෝමයක් විනාශ විය. මෙම උත්සවය 2006 දී රජය විසින් එහි වාස්තු විද්‍යාත්මක හා ඓතිහාසික අනන්‍යතාවය ආරක්ෂා කර ගැනීමේ අරමුණින් ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ වැඩසටහනක් ආරම්භ කරන ලදී. ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණයේ පළමු අදියර සඳහා අරමුදල් සපයන ලද්දේ එමීර් ෂීක් හමාඩ් බින් කලීෆා අල් තානි සහ ඔහුගේ බිරිඳ වන ෂෙයිකා මොසා බින්ට් නසාර් විසිනි. 1950 ගණන් වලින් පසු ඉදිකරන ලද ගොඩනැගිලි කඩා ඉවත් කරන ලද අතර පැරණි ව්යුහයන් නවීකරණය කරන ලදී. ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය 2008 දී අවසන් කරන ලදී. ආසියාවේ විවිධ ප්‍රදේශවලින් ආනයනය කරන ලද දැව සහ උණ බම්බු යොදා ගනිමින් සම්ප්‍රදායික තාපන ක්‍රම භාවිතා කරනු ලැබේ. වාර්ෂිකව අප්‍රේල් මාසයේ පැවැත්වෙන වසන්ත උත්සවයක් බොහෝ නාට්‍ය, ඇක්‍රොබැටික් සහ සංගීත සංදර්ශන පවත්වයි. තවද, බල්ලන්, බළලුන්, හාවුන්, කැස්බෑවන් සහ පක්ෂීන් ඇතුළු විවිධ ගෘහස්ථ සුරතල් සතුන් අලෙවි කරන සුරතල් කුටි Souq Waqif හි ඇත.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, කටාර්හි සංචාරය කිරීමට වඩාත්ම වැදගත් ස්ථානය Souq Waqif වේ. එය ඔබගේ ජීවන ගමනේ අපූරු අත්දැකීමක් වේවි !!!

Souq Waqif  is a marketplace in Doha, in the state of Qatar. It sells traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs. It is also home to restaurants and many traditional cuisine. The original building dates back at least from the 20th Century in a traditional Qatari architectural style. It was renovated in 2006.

It is located in the district of Al Souq which is situated in the center of Doha, As it was a market used for trading activities, the area used to be located immediately adjoining the shore to allow for boats to access it. Although still facing the water, the direct link to the water front for boats is now divided by a major road and the recently completed park. The souq was founded at least a century ago in proximity of the dry river bed known as Wadi Musheireb. It was a gathering place where Bedouins and locals would trade a variety of goods, However with the boom in prosperity in the 1990s, the Souq fell into decline and in 2003, most of it was destroyed in a fire.

This event initiated a restoration program by the government in 2006, with the purpose of preserving its architectural and historical identity. The first phase of restoration was funded by the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah al Thani and his wife Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. Buildings constructed after the 1950s were demolished whereas older structures were refurbished. The restoration was completed in 2008. Traditional heating methods are employed by utilizing wood and bamboo imported from various areas of Asia. A yearly spring festival around April hosts many theatricals, acrobatics and musical performances. And also, There are pet stalls in Souq Waqif which sell a variety of domestic pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles and birds.

However the thing, Souq Waqif is the most important place to visit in Qatar. It would be a wonderful experience in your life journey !!!❤❤❤
